Review of Industry Training Boards (ITBs)

We are asking for views on the effectiveness and the functions of the Construction Industry Training Board and the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board.

Consultation description

We are currently conducting a triennial review of the Industry Training Boards (Construction Industry Training Board, Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, and Film Industry Training Board) in line with the government’s commitment to review public bodies every 3 years.

The review is examining the need for the Industry Training Boards (ITBs) to continue and the future delivery options. Further information on triennial reviews can be found at transforming government services to make them more efficient and effective for users.

We are asking for views on engagement with ITBs through 2 separate questionnaires:

Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) review

Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) review

We will be seeking views on the Film Industry Training Board separately.

The responses to this consultation will go directly to the ITBs review team at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).

This call for evidence is specifically targeted at industry stakeholders who are in scope to pay the training levy or are exempt. It is completely separate from consultations on the statutory levy being conducted by or on behalf of the CITB and the ECITB. We will be consulting other interested parties through alternative mechanisms.

Please note that this is not a review of the policy relating to skills funding to which the government remains committed.

Contributions will form part of the final report that will be published in 2014. No specific comments will be attributed to individuals or organisations.
