Monitor of Engagement with the Natural Environment in England
Yesterday, Natural England publishes a report that presents the main findings from the second year of the Monitor of Engagement with the Natural Environment (MENE) Survey.
MENE collects detailed information on people’s use and enjoyment of the natural environment.
The survey was undertaken by TNS Research International on behalf of Natural England, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Forestry Commission.
The information within the report and the online data viewer are categorised as official statistics and their production and publication accords with the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
The MENE Second Annual Report including a full Technical Report and updated On-line Cross-Tabulation Data Viewer can be found on the MENE page.
Part of Natural England’s duty under the Code of Practice for Official Statistics is to seek feedback from users on their experiences of the service it provides in producing this information, and on the format and timing of the statistical releases. We are also very interested to understand how we can provide statistics that users find most useful. A ‘user-engagement survey’ has been designed to capture this information and the results will inform how we can improve the service and ensure we provide best value from continued investment.
