HM Treasury Appointments
Michael Ellam has
been appointed Managing Director, International and Europe, in
succession to Stephen Pickford. Mr Ellam will take on this role
when Mr Pickford steps down at the end of this year. In the
meantime, Mr Ellam will work alongside Mr Pickford and support the
work of the Treasury's International Finance Directorate.
1. Michael Ellam joined the Treasury, as an economist in the International Finance Directorate, in 1993, having previously worked in the City and academia. His previous jobs in the Treasury include private secretary to the Chancellor (1994-96), EMU policy team (1998-9), Head of Debt and Reserves Management (1999-2000), Head of Communications (2000-3) and Director of Policy and Planning (2004-7). In addition, he spent two years on secondment to the Foreign Office, based in Beijing during 1996-98. In his most-recent civil service post, he was the No 10 Director of Communications and the Prime Minister's Official Spokesman from 2007-9.
