Austria: coalition talks with the far right begin

Negotiations to form a right-wing government in Austria are starting today. Open Europe's Leopold Traugott explains what to look out for, and what the outcome of these negotiations could mean for Austria's role in Europe.

Sebastian Kurz, leader of the conservative Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), announced at a press conference this week that he will begin official coalition talks with the far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ).  Negotiations are likely to last until Christmas.
