Change of Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic
Mr Christopher Campbell has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic. He will succeed Mr Steven Fisher, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. He will take up their appointment during October 2015.
Mr Campbell joined the FCO in 1982 and has held a range of positions in bilateral and multilateral missions around the world. His work has covered a wide range of issues including consular, political and international security policy, commercial diplomacy, immigration work and corporate services. His most recent position has been as non-resident Ambassador to Nicaragua. He has also previously worked in Ministerial private offices in London.
On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Mr Campbell has said:
I am delighted and honoured to be appointed to this position in a country with such a long and distinguished history. I look forward to further developing our already strong political and cooperation links with the Dominican Republic. Building on our existing trade links, I am looking forward to working closely with the government in Santo Domingo on a wider range of issues of mutual interest and benefit.
