Constraint Restraint Exhibition

Exploring ideas of constraint through historic objects and contemporary art

Objects that symbolise restraint and constraint are the foundation of this thought-provoking, coproduced exhibition.

You’ll see handcuffs, keys, locks and prison cell doors from the museum collection presented in multiples, alongside powerful anxiety drawings by international artist Liz Atkins and some surprising contemporary donations.

Look out for creative responses by Feng-Ru Lee, Priya Mistry, Nisa Khan, Blue Bag
