Leicestershire Police officer fined having pleaded guilty to careless driving
A Leicestershire Police officer has been fined £100 at Leicester Magistrates Court for careless driving following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
PC Charlotte Parry – who pleaded guilty at a hearing at Loughborough Magistrates Court in September - was responding to a Grade 1 call for assistance when the police van she was driving collided with a Subaru car on 18 March 2021 on the A47 King Richards Road in Leicester.
A passenger in the car, a man in his 40s, was left with life changing injuries after the van hit the front of the car.
Our investigation began in March 2021 following a mandatory referral from Leicestershire Police and looked into the manner of PC Parry’s driving.
At the end of our investigation in August 2021 and following discussion with Leicestershire Police, it was agreed that PC Parry had a case to answer for misconduct. It will now be for the force to take forward disciplinary proceedings.
