Procurement Act 2023 update
The Cabinet Office has announced that the Procurement Act 2023 will now commence on 24 February 2025 - a delay of four months from the original go-live date of 28 October 2024 to allow time for a new National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS) to be produced.
In light of the recent change in Government, public procurement must now align with the Government's new priorities and objectives. The National Procurement Policy Statement, a key component of the Procurement Act, outlines the Government's strategic priorities for procurement. Therefore, the new regime needs to begin with an NPPS that reflects the new Government's objectives, including delivering greater value for money, supporting economic growth, and improving social value.
The new NPPS is currently being created, and it is expected to be completed by February 2025.
