techUK is holding a series of webinars on human rights and sustainability issues in June.

Sustainability and human rights has become a business essential for the sector and to help understand some of the latest trends, techUK is running a  series of open webinars on some of the most pressing subjects.

Over the next month we will hold webinars on responsible mineral sourcingmandatory human rights due diligence and an introduction to ESG criteria.

The webinars will be interactive and include a range of expert government, industry and civil society representatives. The webinars are detailed below and tare taking place on 2 June, 8 June and 15 June and full details are below.

With new legal requirements starting for minerals importers on January 1st., 2021 what is the level of preparedness? Are the tools in place for economic operators to comply such as a common understanding of "Conflict-Affected and High Risk Areas“?

Will other metals such as cobalt be regulated? This international webinar will look at regulatory trends for minerals supply chains and the impact of COVID-19.

The session will be moderated by Julian Lageard from Intel who chairs the techUK Sustainable Supply Chain Group Confirmed and invited speakers from The European Commission LBMA, RMI, OECD, EC, EPRM and RCS Global.

Mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence legislation – what is it, what do people need to think about it and the potential legal approach – Monday 8 June 2:00pm-3:30pm

Calls for mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence legislation have grown in recent years and in Europe it now seems certain some proposals will be tabled next year. This means that all companies will need to understand and report on the risks that exist in their supply chains and operations, with real expectations on them by stakeholders, and real sanctions for non-compliance.

This webinar is an introduction for members in to what such legislation could look like, how businesses will be expected to comply, overlaps with country specific legislation and the catalyst for action the new requirements will be.

An introduction to ESG and what it means for tech – Monday 15 June 2:00pm-3:30pm.

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria are becoming increasingly embedded in investor minds and businesses, with company sustainability teams having to adapt their understanding and expand their remits. Companies now must report on show action on worker rights, diversity, board and audit committee structure, climate change, material use and more.

Given the increasing priority stakeholders and investors are giving to ESG this webinar is an introduction to ESG and what it means for technology businesses, with experts showing  how to present and ‘count’ ESG in reports and understand the new expectations in this area.
