Citizens Advice has called on all energy suppliers to reduce prices to help bring down consumer bills.
Responding to an announcement from British Gas that it will cut household gas prices by 5 per cent from next month, Citizens Advice called for others to follow suit.
Gillian Guy, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, said:
“Customers have been losing out on low wholesale energy prices for too long.
“British Gas’ decision to reduce household gas prices by 5 per cent is encouraging and other companies need to follow suit.
"Just last week the Competition and Markets Authority found consumers have been overcharged by around 5 per cent. All energy suppliers need to cut prices to help bring down bills and show they take these findings seriously."
