CONVICTION OF MR CLEMENS GILBERT TO COURT OF APPEAL

The Criminal Cases Review Commission has referred the conviction of
Mr Clemens Patrick Joseph Gilbert to the Court of Appeal with a view
to determining whether the conviction should have been for
manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.
Mr Gilbert was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court, on 13 July 1994,
of the murder of Ms Ann Cuthbertson. He was sentenced to life
imprisonment.
His application for leave to appeal against conviction was refused by
the Court of Appeal on 14 February 1995.
Mr Gilbert applied to the Criminal Cases Review Commission on 1st
July 1999 for a review of his conviction.
